But too see significantly more of the planet beyond England will inevitably involve leaving a giant carbon footprint - in which case you will have wasted the earth.
Well, this is the issue, isn't it? How can we make the most of our lives without making less of the planet?
And, if we have only one 'go' at being here . . . is there a point at which we are morally wrong to ignore what life can offer . . . ?
Should we throw off our puritan chains before it is too late?
