WINDOWS

Sash windows allow:-

a.) Air in - while keeping burglars out.

b.) Air in - without letting children out.

c.) Straightforward escape (in a fire).

d.) Shutters.

Why don't more houses have sash windows?

I read your blog with interest, all I make is sash windows so yes I am bias towards them, they are the ideal window because in answer to your questions,

Air in - while keeping burglars out.sash windows in replacements dont need vents they can have two stage keeps, that means they can allow background ventilation without risking security

b.) Air in - without letting children out.Thats easy too, limit stops allow even more circulation of air(rapid ventilation) whilst limiting the opening to 100mm, (not enough for little johnny's head!

c.) Straightforward escape (in a fire).nothing could be easier than a sliding sash window in a fire

d.) Shutters.

Why don't more houses have sash windows? becasue we have thicker glass, shutters were used to protect delecate 2/3mm glass from being damaged by hail storms.

whats more sash windows dont open into the room (so they dont affect curtains like other styles do0 and dont open out wards so children can play safely outside!

we are keen to revive the popularity of sash windows

Sashman . . . !

This is so frustrating!

You say you make sash windows . . . and you have all this expertise . . . and yet you remain anonymous!

If you have a site - please feel free to put a link in a comment box so people can know about your work!
