I agree, Susan, but I would extend this requirement further, to all shop workers. I've always liked shopping in John Lewis because I find their staff to be well trained and knowledgeable, which is not always the case in other major retailers.
I guess the reason Saturday staff are less well trained is that the turnover is higher and the cost of training cannot be justified, atleast in economic terms. However, I do think they are doing themselves a disservice if it discourages shoppers.
It's one of those odd things . . . I live in my little house by the sea and listen to the radio and reckon I know best about more-or-less everything . . . as I keep telling the news-casters, the policiticians and all the experts interviewed there. I shout quite loud - but I'm beginning to suspect they can't hear! Sometimes, I write to my MP . . . but there's always more to say. So, here it is!
