Hello WholelifeGardening (C.L.?) and Bare-Faced Gardener - and a very Happy New Year to you both!
Bare-Faced Gardener's experiences in the kitchen appear to parallel mine! If the cook has tidied along the way, by all means, let him or her rest afterwards. But if they have left piles of washing up, used every saucepan in the kitchen, the sink and the floor are awash, there are vegetable peelings on all the surfaces and empty packets round the bin and . . . well . . . the prospect of washing up afterwards may (may!)interfere with one's enjoyment of the food, however delicious it is. Perhaps if the cook knew he or she would be tidying away after, it would influence how the meal is prepared . . . ?
When I wrote this, it struck me there are parallels in other parts of our lives - both as individuals and societies.
It's one of those odd things . . . I live in my little house by the sea and listen to the radio and reckon I know best about more-or-less everything . . . as I keep telling the news-casters, the policiticians and all the experts interviewed there. I shout quite loud - but I'm beginning to suspect they can't hear! Sometimes, I write to my MP . . . but there's always more to say. So, here it is!

In my household the person who cooked gets to linger at the table while the one who didn't prepare the meal does the cleaning up. Seems fair to me!
Absolutely ! Especially if it’s husbands who use every pan in the cupboard ;-) And everything should be put back in its place !
