Our house has a chimney pot but no fireplace.
All the houses in our street have pretend chimney pots.
It makes them blend in with the older ones.
When we first moved here, I thought it was naff.
Now, when I look across the roof-scapes, I think the architect was right.

Wouldn't you like your house to be like others from the inside as well as the outside? A chimney is nice at the top, but so is a fireplace at the bottom - even if you don't ever use it for fires. I think the architect was too timid.
